A Mother's Love

The writer simply has no words to better describe this awesome Captured Moment of "A Mother's Love." However .....

I remember the story of a mother in South Georgia. Her son said, "During the humid summers, of the forties, and before we had electricity in our home, it was too hot for her to sleep. She would sit for hours, with an old fashioned hand-held fan to cool her children in order that we may sleep."
This was "A Mother's Love."

A mother's true love is manifested by her giving. She gives her energy to feed, protect, and raise up her young to maturity. If it becomes necessary, she will give her life for her offspring. She wants the best for her little ones. If she must, she will raise them by herself. She is always proud of them. She cries when they are grown and move out on their own. She loves the little ones that are produced by her progeny - even to helping care for them.

What can compare with the tender caress of a mother's hand on the fevered brow of her child?

Who doesn't remember getting a boo-boo (cut or scrape)? Mother knew just what to do. She would clean up the area and put mercurochrome on the wound. In an effort to end the tears, she would turn the boo-boo into a funny face. The good thing was mercurochrome did not burn. Nothing can surpass the feeling of a Mama's soothing touch to a little skinned knee.

Some things are of a more serious nature. I think of another story told by a friend. She said, "I had graduated from school and was working. I came home for lunch, and my brother was on his dialysis machine. Mama had taken a practical nursing course and was his private care-giver. A line to the machine came loose, and his blood was spewing all over the floor. Mama instantly knew what to do and handled the situation."

In the mind of a child, Mother can make almost any situation better by her simple and forthright thoughts and actions.

In the Animal Kingdom - who hasn't heard of how a mother was willing to fight to the death for the protection of her young?

I read of one instance where a polar-bear mother and cub in the Arctic were stranded on an ice-floe that broke away. The mother lost her life because she refused to leave her cub alone on the floating ice. Eventually, they were both drowned.

Last year, I watched online as a pair of eagles sat on the nest through terrible weather to protect three little ones. Although the rain and finally snow covered them, they made sure their young were kept dry and as warm as possible.

A word of advice:
If you still have your Mom, cherish her and tell her how wonderful she is - before it is too late. You'll be glad you did.
